Aussie rockers Body Type have announced the release of their new album, Tally, out Friday 24 July via Poison City Records.
Recorded at Velveteen Laboratory Studios in Los Angeles with producer Stella Mozgawa (Warpaint, Courtney Barnett, Kim Gordon), Tally includes the singles ‘And What Else?’, ‘Mulberry’ and the just-released ‘Sick Bag’.
“Our first ever song to feature a mellotron — a true Stella moment,” says vocalist and guitarist Sophie McComish about ‘Sick Bag’. “This one just poured out of me like ink in a broken biro.”
The track was written by McComish after chatting with bandmate Annabel Blackman about being in a relationship with a partner who isn’t fully committed, resulting in one of Body Talk’s most vulnerable tracks.
“It could be a beautiful thing, really. When someone loves you so hard, it makes you feel sick. Someone make me spew!” says McComish.
The track is accompanied by a music video directed by Madeline Purdy and produced by Lucinda White. Shot by cinematographer Tommy Thoms with special effects makeup by Melinda Allan, the clip was filmed on location in Sydney's Martin Place, with Purdy and her team committing fully to the bit and the surroundings.
“Everyone thought we were shooting content for Macquarie Bank, even when Sophie started vomiting," says Purdy. "If nothing else, we gave those on their lunch break some entertainment, and the security guards something to do. Making art in Martin Place in corporate wear is a challenge we all enjoyed.”
