After successfully bringing The Libertines back, UK indie poet Peter Doherty is reviving his second most famous project, Babyshambles.
As the band plans to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their classic debut album Down In Albion, which will be reissued next month on December 12 with several session tracks, rarities and B-sides via Rough Trade Records (pre-order it here), they have released the new single ‘Dandy Holligan’.
Babyshambles’ first new song in 12 years is an old-timey ska record about Bob Morris, an associate of the band who also stars in the film clip.
“It’s a well-turned-out, elegantly crafted, reggae-ska-pop song… with a sweet melody to bowl along to with your sharpened walking cane,” says Doherty of the track.

The release of ‘Dandy Hooligan’ coincides with Babyshambles’ UK tour that kicks off this Thursday in Coventry. The band have locked in 17 dates across the UK, selling out shows in London and Glasgow.
Babyshambles was formed in 2013 by Doherty while on a hiatus from The Libertines. The band survived multiple lineup changes and released three albums – Down in Albion (2005), Shotter's Nation (2007) and Sequel to the Prequel (2013) – before their final run of shows in 2014.
The band reunited briefly in 2024 before Doherty announced Babyshambles would embark on a 2025 tour and re-release their debut album.
