Damon Albarn’s cartoon band Gorillaz have shared new single ‘The God of Lying’, which features the talents of British punk act Idles frontman Joe Talbot
Taken from Gorillaz’s upcoming album The Mountain, which arrives March 20 via the band’s own label Kong (pre-order/pre-save here), ‘The God of Lying’ was recorded in London and Devon, England, and Mumbai, India, with help from bansuri player Ajay Prasanna and percussionist Viraj Acharya.
In a statement about ‘The God of Lying’, Gorillaz’s fictional frontman, 2D, said, “Can I tell you a secret? Doubt is very tiring but questioning things is really good for you.”
The release of ‘The God of Lying’ follows recent Gorillaz singles ‘The Happy Dictator’ featuring Sparks and ‘The Manifesto’ featuring Trueno and the late D12 rapper Proof.
The Mountain is Gorillaz’s ninth studio album and features a star-studded lineup of collaborators, including producers such as James Ford, Samuel Egglenton, Remi Kabaka Jr. and Bizarrap and artists including Johnny Marr from The Smiths, Yasiin Bey, Black Thought of the Roots and Anoushka Shankar.
