Australian Music Industry Network Introduces the Australian Music Touring Network

The Australian live music industry is evolving with the launch of the Australian Music Touring Network, a free national platform designed to connect original live music venues to artists, tour managers and industry professionals across the country.

Developed by the Australian Music Industry Network (AMIN), the platform is designed to make touring easier for artists, allowing them to find suitable venues, discover new touring opportunities and build stronger connections across metropolitan, regional and remote Australia.

"Touring is the lifeblood of our industry, and knowing where to take your music and who to connect with is essential to every artist," says Emily Tulloch, Acting General Manager, Australian Music Industry Network.

"The Australian Music Touring Network connects artists to venues, and promotes touring and industry relationships across the country. I'm really proud to be working on a project that addresses equity of access to information, and provides the tools needed to form the relationships that underpin successful touring."

Venues interested can register for free here ahead of the platform's national rollout, which will include a public platform launching later in the year for artists, tour managers and the broader music community. Venues of all shapes and sizes, be it cafes, theatres, or iconic live music venue establishments, are encouraged to register.

Eligible venues include any physical establishment that presents original contemporary live music regularly, whether daily, weekly, monthly or at another regular interval. This includes dedicated live music venues, pubs, clubs, community halls, arts centres, cafés and other spaces committed to presenting original Australian music.

Developed by the AMIN, who represent Australia's eight state and territory contemporary music peak bodies: MusicACT, MusicNT, MusicNSW, Music Victoria, MusicSA, Music Tasmania, QMusic, WAM, the Australian Music Touring Network has been built around one key principle: music is local before it is national.

"AMIN’s deep acknowledgment of the inherently local nature of Australian musicmaking underpins this project, which seeks to connect the right artists to the right venues across the country. We warmly encourage every Australian original music venue, no matter how small or how large, to be a part of this network."

Those who sign up and join the Australian Music Touring Network will:

• Become discoverable through Australia's first national directory of original live music venues.
• Make it easier for artists, managers and tour bookers to find the right venue and make direct booking enquiries.
• Showcase the venue's facilities, technical specifications, accessibility information, and performance spaces.
• Highlight programming preferences, local knowledge and other information that helps touring artists plan successful shows.
• Increase visibility to presenters, festivals, booking agents, local councils, government agencies and industry stakeholders.
• Become part of a connected national network working to strengthen touring opportunities for Australian artists.
