Gareth Liddiard and Fiona Kitschin are getting The Drones back together, announcing a one-off Australian tour.
After spending the last 10 years releasing music and touring the globe with their baby, Tropical Fuck Storm, Liddiard and Kitschin have locked in eight dates across the country where they will perform tracks from The Drones’ seven albums.
Joining The Drones on tour will be Sydney duo The Mess Hall.
Kicking off in Darwin on Saturday 8 August as part of Darwin Festival, The Drones national tour takes in Thornbury’s Thornbury Theatre (Friday 14 August), Brisbane’s Crowbar (Friday 28 August), Marrickville’s Factory Theatre (Saturday 29 August), Adelaide’s The Gov (Friday 4 September), Perth’s The Rechabite (Saturday 5 September) and Castlemaine’s Theatre Royal (Friday 11 September), with the final show at Archies Creek’s Archies Creek Hotel on Saturday 12 September.

Formed by Gareth Liddiard in Perth in 1997, The Drones quickly found themselves the toast of the Aussie music scene, gaining a reputation for their wild live shows and Liddiard’s uncompromising songwriting.
Across their seven-album career, the band released a slew of hit singles, including ‘Taman Shud’, ‘To Think That I Once Loved You’, ‘Shark Fin Blues’, ‘Jezabel’, ‘Boredom’, ‘I See Seaweed’, ‘How To See Through Fog’, ‘River Of Tears’ and more.
Winners of the inaugural Australian Music Prize for their LP Wait Long by the River and the Bodies of Your Enemies Will Float By, The Drones have also toured with the likes of Neil Young, Patti Smith and The Dirty Three, with their upcoming tour not to be missed.
