Sydney siblings Angus and Julia Stone have announced the release of their seventh studio album, Karaoke Bar, out Friday 4 September via Virgin Music.
The duo’s new album finds Angus and Julia evolving as songwriters and musicians, writing and recording the album across Greece, France and Australia. Shaped by the people and places they encountered, the album’s title track is the first glimpse of what fans can expect from Karaoke Bar.
The track was born on the Greek island of Hydra between late-night recording sessions and days spent in the water. “It was a magical time on one of the strangest and most beautiful islands we've ever been to,” Angus recalls.
Julia adds, speaking of the single, “A night out at a karaoke bar can hold so much goodness… that’s what the song is about. Everyone has the chance to be heard. And it’s so often more than that, a moment of real connection. We’re together, singing with a roomful of strangers, and the things that normally separate us fall away.”
