What five songs would you take to a desert island?

1. AC/DC – ‘Ride On’

Probably the closest thing to a ballad they ever did. Hookers, booze and movin’ on, aaah, the good ol’ days.

2. O.C. Smith – ‘That’s Life’

“Each time I find myself flat on my face. I pick myself up and get back in the race”

3. Crowded House – ‘Better Be Home Soon’

It’s actually the text I get from the wife when I’m at the pub!

4. Metallica – ‘One’

Something light and breezy for a sunny arvo.

5. The Doors – ‘Alabama Song (Whiskey Bar)’

“Oh, show me the way to the next whiskey bar”

If you could only pick one, what would it be?

O.C Smith – ‘That’s Life’.

What’s your favourite album?

AC/DC – Dirty Deeds. I reckon there was a time where we played Dirty Deeds by AC/DC every day/night on the tour bus. It reminds me of all the mayhem and makes me smile.

What’s your favourite song by an SA artist/band?

LOLA – ‘My Life’. The Screaming Jets toured recently with the most excellent LOLA. A great band of great men, so ‘My Life’. A close second would have to be ‘If Your Dad Doesn’t Have A Beard, You’ve Got Two Mums’ by The Beards.

Favourite music-related memory?

Being asked to perform with INXS at Rock Am Ring in Germany. 60,000 people. It was the first time I’d even met the guys and Michael asked me if I’d like to get up and perform ‘Don’t Change’ with ‘em. “Fuck Yeah!” I said.
