Three years on since the release of their incredible debut long player, She’s So Cool, Wet Kiss have emerged from the music wilderness with several new singles and announced their sophomore record is finally on the way.
Thus Spoke the Broken Chanteuse arrives on June 27 via Dinosaur City (pre-save here). Produced by Andy McEwan, the album “explores the melodramatic misadventures of the Melbourne-to-Berlin artist pipeline, gender clinics, and desolate glamour.”
Fronted by sublimel jezebel Brenna O (aka the punk Bette Midler), Wet Kiss are more than just a band – they’re an experience. Having already shared the singles ‘Isn’t Music Wonderful’ and ‘Skirt’, the musical collective have dropped their latest track ‘Chicks From Nowhere’ to coincide with their upcoming album tour.
The glam rock opera single was written by the band in Melbourne while high on ecstasy and details the joy of picking up a lover in the early hours of the morning and enjoying the anonymity of a new city.
“It’s not really a standard pop song at all,” explains lead vocalist Brenna. “It’s more of a rock saloon song.”
To celebrate the release of their upcoming album, Wet Kiss are embarking on an East Coast tour, kicking things off at Castlemaine’s Bridge Hotel on Friday, August 1. Wet Kiss then make their way to Vinnie’s Dive Bar on the Gold Coast (Friday, August 15) before hitting Brisbane’s Season Three (Saturday, August 16), Melbourne’s Howler (Friday, August 22), Adelaide’s Arthur Bar (Saturday, August 23) and Wollongong’s La La La’s (Friday, August 29), before bringing the tour to an end at Sydney’s Waywards on Saturday, August 30.
