After several years away from the spotlight, Bec Sandridge returned a few weeks back with brand new single, ‘Always a Fan’.
Bold and brash, ‘Always a Fan’ takes influence from the electro-pop genre, with a punchy drum beat and auto-tune vocals. Speaking with Check Check about ‘Always a Fan’, her first song in three years, Sandridge commented: “It hints at the themes of identity-shifting, performance and longing that run through the rest of the record. That being said, the new direction is quite diverse.”
To celebrate the release, Sandridge has announced a run of tour dates taking place across September. Commencing at The Junk Bar in Brisbane on Saturday, September 13, Sandridge then continues with shows at Sydney’s The Vanguard on Friday, September 19, Melbourne’s Cactus Room on Saturday, September 20, Adelaide’s Grace Emily Hotel on Thursday, September 25 and Perth’s Rosemount Hotel on Friday, September 26.
Taking to Instagram to reveal her upcoming shows, Sandridge posted: “So here it is: AUSTRALIA + NEW ZEALAND. New songs. New band. New silky boxer shorties. Same accidental undercut.
”We’re kicking off in some super steamy-sized rooms (read: sweaty, intimate, limited-capacity). I’d love to play you some new songs, hear your local coffee cult tips, and maybe get a little feral together.”

Inspired by her folk roots and ‘80s pop, Sandridge shared her debut EP, Wild Heart, in 2013, and followed up three years later with her second EP, In the Fog. Both of the EPs were well received by critics and fans, with her first album, TRY + SAVE ME, arriving independently in 2019.
TRY + SAVE ME featured Sandridge’s hit single ‘STRANGER’, which was co-written with Holy Holy’s Oscar Dawson. The track was a finalist in the International Songwriting Contest in the Unsigned category (as judged by Chris Martin of Coldplay, Dua Lipa, and Tom Waits) in 2020.
Along with releasing her own music, Sandridge has co-written with the likes of Sarah Blasko, Japanese Wallpaper, Andy Bull and Lucy Taylor (Pawws, Dua Lipa, Ellie Goulding). She’s also performed at some of Australia’s biggest festivals, including Falls Festival, Groovin’ The Moo and Festival of The Sun, while supporting big name acts such as Catfish and the Bottlemen, Yungblud, The Rubens and Missy Higgins.
‘Always a Fan’ ushers in a new chapter for Sandridge, one we can’t wait to hear.
