Three D Radio Presents Mini-Festival SONIC SPIRE, Headlined by Teenage Joans
The all-ages event takes over Carclew on Saturday 6 December.

Everyone’s favourite community radio station Three D Radio are throwing mini-festival SONIC SPIRE this December to celebrate the recently upgraded Mount Lofty radio tower, which is responsible for transmitting the 93.7FM signal across the airwaves.
Held at the iconic grounds of Carclew on Saturday 6 December, SONIC SPIRE runs from 2pm to 10pm and features two stages showcasing a curated lineup of incredible SA acts, headlined by punk rock duo Teenage Joans, who are riding high after the release of their latest barnburner, ‘My Heart’s Dead!’.
Joining them on the bill are MONDO PSYCHO, OIL!, Ella Ion, Coldwave, The Dainty Morsels and The Genevieves, with more artists to be announced in the coming weeks.
Along with all the great tunes, there will be an array of local food trucks, a licensed bar and plenty of non-alcoholic options. Sonic Spire will also have arts and craft activities to entertain younger festival goers.
Three D Radio Members and Subscribers can use their special access code for discounted entry, with general admission for those 18+ $40 and concessions and those between 12-18 just $20. Children 12 and under go free!

In a recent chat The Note had with Three D Radio’s Chair Sonia Mir and Volunteers Rep Tiff Stodart, Mir discussed how SONIC SPIRE came about and the involvement of Carlew.
“What started as a bit of crazy idea to throw a party for our new combiner and tower upgrades, evolved into something really special to celebrate community radio and the Adelaide music scene,” explained Mir. “And all on the grounds of Carlew, it’s a great pairing for us to be at the home of youth arts for this event. We are really excited to be curating our own mini festival.
SONIC SPIRE also commemorates South Australia’s rich cultural heartbeat and ten years since Adelaide received UNESCO City of Music status – making it Australia’s first and only UNESCO City of Music.

The six track release includes the singles ‘Chosen Ones’ and ‘Closer To You’.
The track samples Enoch Light and The Light Brigade’s ‘Hi-Jack’.
The bassist and vocalist has also announced a run of shows across Australia, North American and Europe.
‘Halfway’ is the fourth single taken from the band’s upcoming debut studio album, Mount Zero.
This is the latest in the duo’s ambitious 26 song release schedule.
The English alt-rockers will be joined by indie greats Razorlight.
The ARIA Hall of Fame members will be celebrating 30 years of Hourly Daily with a string quartet.
The album arrives a year after frontman Tom Smith released his debut solo record.
Performers include Baker Boy, Electric Fields, Big Noter and many more.
New speakers announced include local arts and media personalities such as Fanny Lumsden, Poppy Reid, Annabelle Herd and Dean Ormston.
The album features 15 covers of Smashing Pumpkins songs by modern artists.
