Returning at the start of the month with post hardcore anthem ‘Sucker Punch’, Adelaide rockers alt. have shared their latest sonic blast, ‘They’ve Always Lived In The Castle’.
Out now via Resist Records (AU) and SharpTone Records (ROW), the track is a booming nu metal meets hardcore punch to the gut featuring a scream that’ll give you chills. There’s even a hint of The Pump Panel’s Reconstruction Mix of New Order’s ‘Confusion’ that appears in the opening “Blood Rave” scene of the iconic 1998 vampire flick Blade mid-song.
Produced, mixed and mastered by Callan Orr (Dream On Dreamer, Hands Like Houses), ‘They’ve Always Lived In The Castle’ is arguably one of alt.’s most fiery tracks exloring ideas of systemic control, imbalance of power and the boiling point that follows suppression.
“‘They've Always Lived In The Castle’ confronts a world where power has always protected itself," says the band. “Where the wealthy remain untouched, and those at the top tighten their grip while the rest are left behind. The song channels a moment when people decide they’ve had enough and rise to reclaim their lives.”
