Melbourne pub punk rockers The Smith Street Band are back with new single, ‘This Is It’.
Taken from the band’s forthcoming seventh album, the track is a heavy blast of emotional honesty exploring themes of identity and self-doubt.
Recorded at The Smith Street Band’s Bush House Studios in regional Victoria, ‘This Is It’ might be the band’s most authentic release yet.
“‘This Is It’ is a song about coming to terms with who you are, what you’ve done and what you’re doing next,” says frontman Wil Wagner.
The release of ‘This Is It’ is accompanied by a music video shot and edited by long time collaborator Nick Manuell, with help from Greg Rietwyk.
Along with dropping a new tune, The Smith Street Band are embarking on a national tour alongside Bad Neighbour this July.
The tour takes in seven dates and kicks off in Nipaluna/Hobart at Altar on Friday, July 11. The band then perform at Corner Hotel in Naarm/Melbourne on Saturday, July 12, Crowbar in Eora/Sydney on Friday, July 18 and Crowbar in Meanjin/Brisbane on Saturday, July 19.
The final three gigs take place at The Gov in Kaurna Yerta/Adelaide on Thursday, July 24, Magnet House in Boorloo/ Perth on Friday, July 25, and Indian Ocean Hotel in Mooro/Scarborough on Saturday, July 26.
