The Grogans Share New Single 'Country Mile'

The song is inspired by an incident that occurred while the band was driving through rural NSW.

The Grogans follow August's 'Reasons' with twangy new single 'County Mile', out now via Community Music.

'Country Mile' was inspired by a true tale the lads experienced while road tripping through rural NSW on their way to Sydney for a gig.

Somehow half of the band's drum kit fell off the back of their trailer, with The Grogans embarking on a wild goose chase to track down the gear, leading to a couple of interesting locals who didn't want to give the drum kit back without compensation.

"We somehow lost half a drum kit off the back of our trailer while driving through rural New South Wales on the way to Sydney," the band shared. "The search for our missing gear led us to two very strange, deeply uncomfortable, and somewhat hostile men who had collected pieces of it from the side of the road. The encounter was so bizarre and unsettling that it inspired 'Country Mile'."

Although it sounds like the plot of a horror movie, everything ended up ok and resulted in this rollicking rock'n'roll yarn accompanied by a music video directed by Sam Brumby that's just as absurd as the story behind the song.

'Country Mile' started as an idea from the band: "a journey from the city to the country, featuring album cover star Nath," says Brumby. "Together we fleshed it out, weighed up what was actually possible in a single day of shooting, and scaled back the scope and locations accordingly.

"The result is an accompaniment that bleeds a little Australiana while capturing the familiar crash and burn of a night well enjoyed."

Formed in Melbourne a decade ago, Quin Grunden, Angus Vasic and Jordan Lewis (aka The Grogans) have built a solid fanbase through their garage-meets-indie rock releases, dropping five albums, a stack of EPs and charting singles across their career.

Breaking through with their 2019 debut album just What You Want, it was last year's Stagger that cemented The Grogans as Aussie rock stalwarts, with the record cracking the ARIA Top 10 and the ARIA Gold-certified 'Money Will Chase You' and 'Lemon To My Lime' becoming fan favourites.

Having sold out headline tours across Australia, North America, the UK, Europe and New Zealand and performed at major festivals including Dauwpop Festival, London Calling, Bangkok Music City and Slackbarn Festival, The Grogans are excited for what comes next.

'County Mile' by The Grogans is out now. Listen here.
