The Amity Affliction are gearing up for the next era in the band’s career with the release of their long-awaited ninth studio album, House of Cards.
Arriving Friday 24 April via Pure Noise Records (pre-order here), House of Cards marks the band’s first full-length outing to feature clean vocalist Jonny Reeves, who became a permanent member of The Amity Affliction in 2025.
The band have also given fans a taste of what to expect from the album with the release of the album title track, ‘House of Cards’. The track was written by Joel Birch and speaks of the relationship between him, his brother and sister, and their mother.
Our mother died in 2024 and none of us had a healthy relationship with her,” Birch explains. “She was very self-involved, aggressive, abusive in our early years and in her later years, spent a good amount of time trying to put a wedge between the three of us. Thankfully once she passed, the three of us actually became closer as we realised we had individual, but shared trauma related to her.”
Accompanying the track is a music video directed by Daniel Daly that you can watch below.
