Adelaide favourites Bad//Dreems are back with ‘SHADOWLANDS, their first taste of new music since the release of their 2023 album, HOO HA!.
The track arrives a month after Bad//Dreems completed their sold-out Dogs At Bay 10th Anniversary Album Tour which saw them performing their seminal debut in intimate venues across the country.
‘SHADOWLANDS’ marks the next chapter in the Bad//Dreems story and the first release from their newly established label, Gutto Records. A swashbuckling pub rock headknocker, ‘SHADOWLANDS’ has that quintessential Bad//Dreems sound with an anthemic chorus that’s sure to become a staple of their live shows.
“Shadowland refers to the ever-present feeling that there is a world around us that remains unseen and unfelt,” explains Bad//Dreems frontman Alex Cameron via Noise11. “We really only see the shadows of the true country on which we live – fleeting glimpses through the veneer that has been laid down in the past 250 years.
“Travelling through Arnhem Land stripped away so much of this and exposed us to a country and culture that was vast, vivid and overwhelming.”
The song was recorded at Adelaide’s Mixmasters Studios by producer Dan Luscombe (Amyl And The Sniffers, Courtney Barnett) and is accompanied by a music video directed by Kaius Potter that is part of a short film project.

Hometown heroes Bad//Dreems have been a constant source of inspiration and enjoyment since the release of their debut record, Dogs At Bay. Produced by Mark Opitz (AC/DC, INXS, Cold Chisel), the album shone a light on the underbelly of everyday suburban life.
The lads have gone on to release three more studio albums (2017’s Gutful, 2019’s Doomsday Ballet and 2023’s Hoo Ha!), two live albums (2015’s Live at Fowler’s and 2024’s Quality Meats), and won a stack of awards, including seven South Australian Music Awards.
The current lineup of Ben Marwe (vocals), Alex Cameron (guitar), Ali Wells (guitar), Deon Slaviero (bass), and Miles Wilson (drums) are excited for what’s to come, with a new album in the works.
