SXSW Sydney 2025 Reveals First Musical Artists
This year’s SXSW Sydney takes place from October 13-19.

Returning for its third year, SXSW Sydney has dropped the first lineup of artists performing at the week-long festival.
Held from Monday, October 13 to Sunday, October 19, this year’s experience features a stack of buzzworthy bands from across the globe. The first announcement of musical artists includes Manchester indie rockers Jasmine 4.t, Irish rock act Cardinals and eclectic UK artist Freak Slug.
Australia will be well represented, with the local lineup including rapper and songwriter Jamaica Moana, lo-fi artist RICEWINE, Meanjin/Brisbane alternative rock duo Sacred Hearts, emerging hip hop artist JJ4k, soulful reggae meets pop Migunberri-Yugumbeh artist, BADASSMUTHAl, and Adelaide’s own indie rock heroes Swapmeet.
Other notable acts making up the first announcement of artists are Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland indie singer-songwriter and producer Serebii, neo-soul champion Tusekah, Thailand shoegaze stars Slowwves (pronounced ‘Slow Waves’) and Japanese math rock mindblowers Suichu Spica 水中スピカ’s.
This year’s festival will also see UK creative studio and technology company Ristband teaming up with experimental trio Pivots for an immersive multimedia experience combining MR technology and live performance.
Today’s artist announcement is the first of several, with the full 2025 music program, alongside a list of conferences, workshops and more, to be unveiled over the coming weeks in the lead-up to this year’s SXSW Sydney.

SXSW Sydney 2025 will comprise over 1,600 sessions and events across seven days, with over 400 conferences, more than 150 professional development sessions, 300 plus music performances, close to 100 film screenings, over 150 gaming-related experiences and more than 400 brand-led events.
Minister for Jobs and Tourism Steve Kamper said: “Hot on the heels of an incredible second year, SXSW Sydney 2025 is gearing up to once again present an exciting series of music experiences. The NSW Government is proud to partner on SXSW Sydney, an event that showcases our city as a premier destination and a global hub for culture and innovation.”
