Finnish Doom Metal Lords Swallow the Sun Add Adelaide Date To Debut Australian Tour

After announcing their debut Australian tour but leaving Adelaide off their itinerary, Finnish doom metal purveyors Swallow the Sun have made amends and revealed they are heading to the City of Churches in January 2026.
For more than two decades, Swallow the Sun have been at the forefront of Finland’s doom metal scene, with their highly anticipated upcoming tour arriving in support of their latest album, Shining.
Released in 2024, Shining was produced by Dan Lancaster (Bring Me the Horizon, Muse, Enter Shikari) and featured a more commercial edge than the band’s previous releases.
Touching down in Australia in January 2026, Swallow the Sun kick off their tour at Perth’s The Rosemount on Saturday 17 January. The band then hits Adelaide’s Ed Castle on Sunday 18 January, Canberra’s The Baso on Thursday 22 January, Sydney’s The Underground on Friday 23 January and Brisbane’s Soapbox for Immeasurable Darkness IV on Saturday 24 January, with their final show of the tour taking place at Melbourne’s The Corner Hotel on Sunday 25 January.

Founded in the year 2000, Swallow the Sun have been hugely successful in the doom metal space, releasing nine albums, winning countless awards and regularly touring the globe.
The group have gone through several lineup changes over the years, with the current iteration of Swallow the Sun comprising OG members Mikko Kotamäki (vocals), Juha Raivio (guitars, keyboards) and Matti Honkonen (bass) alongside Juuso Raatikainen (drums) and Juho Räihä (guitars).

The tour comes in support of Bootleg Rascal’s self-titled fourth long player.
Above & Beyond will co-headline alongside Armand Van Helden and Flight Facilities (DJ Set).
‘Higher Gear’ is the second single released by effie isobel this year, following on from ‘Moon Made’.
This will be Disco Lines’ first-ever Australian appearance.
This is the third and final single take from Dyssidia’s forthcoming album, Deeper Wells Of Meaning.
The first lineup announcement also includes Charlie Musselwhite, Judith Hill and Ruthie Foster.
