North Carolina indie rockers Superchunk are heading our way this December in celebration of the 30th anniversary of their classic album, Foolish.
Produced by Brian Paulson (Beck, Wilco, Slint) and mixed by Superchunk and Paulson at Steve Albini’s home studio, Foolish was released by iconic indie label Merge Records in 1994.
A hit with critics, Pitchfork gave the album 8.8/10 and AllMusic Review called it a “dark masterpiece.” Foolish also spawned the fan favourites ‘Water Wings’, ‘The First Part’, and ‘Driveway To Driveway’ and is revered by music fans as one of the great indie records of the 90s.
Superchunk has announced five shows during their short Aussie visit, kicking things off at Brightside in Brisbane on Saturday, December 7. The band then plays Lion Arts Factory in Adelaide on Sunday, December 8, The Rosie in Perth on Tuesday, December 10, Crowbar in Sydney on Friday, December 13 and finishes up with a gig at The Croner in Melbourne on Saturday, December 14.
Tickets go on sale tomorrow, Thursday, June 6 at 8:30am via Troubadour Presents.
The tour is the first time Superchunk have touched down in Australia in 11 years. Their five dates will follow the band’s first ever tour of Portugal this August and a stack of shows across North America in October.
Lovers of 90s indie and alt-rock won’t want to miss the chance to hear tracks from Foolish played live on what could be Superchunk’s final tour of Australia.
