We love what Kaytetye producer and DJ RONA. is doing in the electronic music space, so we’re super excited to discover she has a new EP on the way.
It’s All Here arrives on Friday 19 September via her imprint Rarre Records (pre-save here). The EP is a six-track collection of songs that “integrates Kaytetye knowledge, soundscapes from Country, and electronic production in a provocative manifesto of sound and storytelling.”
Speaking on the EP, RONA. explains, “It’s All Here is a sonic journey that juxtaposes the contemporary race to space with the profound knowledge and wisdom embedded within ourselves and within Country. The EP challenges the idea that the future lies somewhere out there in the stars in distant galaxies, instead, it calls us to turn inward, to remember that everything we need is already here: in ourselves, in each other, and in relationships in place.”
Accompanying the EP announcement is the release of RONA.’s pulsating new single, ‘Mars’. A straight-up club track with a funky heartbeat, it’s the perfect dancefloor groover.
“‘Mars’ reimagines a future not in the stars in the contemporary race to space, but in the soil. It’s a love song to Earth, to the possibility of regeneration, even when everything feels lost. In a world racing to escape, ‘Mars’ slows down to listen to the dirt, to the water, to the memory we carry in our bodies,” says RONA.
”The song poses a question: what if the most radical thing we could do was stay? To tend to the ruins. To let the flowers grow through us, because everything we need is here. It’s all here. Mars is a track for those who still believe this world can bloom again.”
RONA. has also released a music video for ‘Mars’ that is directed by Arrernte and Kalkadoon filmmaker Tyson Perkins and features a symbolic orb created by Carmen Glynn-Braun, a Kaytetye, Anmatyerr and Arrernte artist. Watch the clip below.
