Robert Forster Announces 2026 Australian Tour

The legendary Aussie singer-songwriter is touring his new album, Strawberries.

Aussie icon Robert Forster is taking his acclaimed ninth album Strawberries on the road this September, announcing a five-date national tour.

Released last year, the record came in at #7 in MOJO’s Top 75 Albums of 2025 and was widely praised by critics.

Keen to take Strawberries on the road, Forster has enlisted the Swedish Band, who played on the record, to perform live alongside him. The band comprises three incredible Swedish musicians: Peter Moren on guitar (who is the “Peter” of Peter Bjorn and John), Jonas Thurell on bass and Magnus Olsen on drums.

Forster will perform tracks from his acclaimed solo career and his illustrious time in The Go-Betweens on tour, kicking things off in Hobart at Odeon Theatre on Wednesday 9 September. Dates follow at Sydney’s City Recital Hall on Thursday 10 September, Thornbury’s The Thronbury Theatre on Saturday 12 September and Adelaide’s The Gov on Tuesday 15 September, with Forster finishing up at The Princess Theatre in Brisbane on Thursday 17 September.

Best known as a co-founding member of indie rock outfit the Go-Betweens, Robert Forster is one of the country’s great songwriters and performers.

After six albums, including Before Hollywood, which reached #2 on the UK Indie Albums Chart, the Go-Betweens called it quits in 1989, with Forster going solo.

The singer-songwriter has gone on to release nine studio albums and become a writer known for his music journalism. Forster has written for the likes of The Monthly and The Saturday Paper, winning the 2006 Pascall Prize for Critical Writing for his columns.
