Melbourne’s Rising returns in 2025 with another enthralling musical lineup. Held at multiple venues across Melbourne, the music, arts and culture festival takes over the CBD and surrounding suburbs for 12 days in June. This year’s event features a massive 327 artists, including British singer-songwriter Suki Waterhouse.
Joining Waterhouse, who is performing two shows, are fellow Brit and Portishead vocalist Beth Gibbons, who last played in the country in 2011, and indie artist Japanese Breakfast, who is touring in support of her upcoming album, For Melancholy Brunettes (& Sad Women).
The lineup also features hip hop greats Black Star, comprising Yasiin Bey (Mos Def), who performed his fourth studio album The Ecstatic in full as part of last year’s Rising, and critical thinker and rap superstar Talib Kweli.
New Zealander Marlon Williams has two shows lined up at Melbourne Town Hall and Mount Kimbie returns for their first Aussie performance in 11 years.
Other notable artists performing are grandad grime duo Pete & Bas, jazz-folk artist Jessica Pratt and indie rockers Soccer Mommy.
The Day Tripper festival returns with another eclectic lineup featuring DIIV, Mount Kimbie DJs, BKTHERULA, Ripple Effect Band, Annie and the Caldwells, Nyege Nyege, Chapter Music and more.
There are also a slew of art installations and performances held across the city, with Japanese artist Shohei Fujimoto performing his laser-focused experience Intangible Free at The Capitol, mini-golf taking over Flinders Street Station with an array of musical guests and a reimagining of Hamlet by Peruvian theatre company Teatro La Plaza, featuring eight performers with Down Syndrome.
If that’s not enough to get you excited, the Night Trade – where music, food and art intersect – is back, and Amplified: The Exquisite Rock and Rage of Chrissy Amphlett, takes you on a rocking journey through music legend Amphlett’s career.
Rising runs from June 4–15 across various venues in Melbourne. For the full lineup and ticketing details visit 2025.rising.melbourne.
