Brizzy/Meanjin rockers Radium Dolls have shared ‘Moving’, the latest single from their upcoming album Wound Up, which drops on Friday 30 January (pre-order here).
The track is a real tearjerker about the end of a seven-year relationship and the moment when one is forced to move their stuff out of the home they once shared while the other watches on.
Frontman Will Perkins shares, “Having recently moved out of my house with my brother Tom, I was reminded about when I first moved in. My long-term ex-partner and I had just split, and it was a difficult and tumultuous time for both of us. Despite this, we remained supportive of each other, and she came to help me with my things when I was struggling emotionally and physically with the workload and new beginnings. We remain great friends to this day, and I am immensely proud and grateful for the way we were able to navigate that highly emotional period of time.”
“‘Moving’ was written in one afternoon,” explains lead guitarist Tom Perkins. “I was playing the verse idea when Will brought in a poem he’d already written, which quickly shaped the lyrics. The band ran the track a couple of times–maybe two or three full plays–and the song was essentially finished on the spot. It’s remained unchanged since that day.”
To coincide with the release of Wound Up, Radium Dolls are hitting the road for a run of Aussie shows in February next year.
The lads begin their Wound Up Tour in Lutruwita/Tasmania at Party in the Paddock on Thursday, 5 February. Radium Dolls then head back to the mainland for gigs at The Triffid in Meanjin/Brisbane on Friday 13 February, the Milk Bar in Boorloo/Perth on Friday 20 February, Jive in Kaurna/Adelaide on Saturday 21 February, the Lansdowne Hotel in Eora/Sydney on Friday 27 February and Howler in Naarm/Melbourne on Saturday 28 February.

Since breaking through in 2024 with their debut album, Legal Speed, Radium Dolls have gained a reputation for their ‘70s-influenced rock and high-energy live performances.
The quartet have spent much of this year touring and recording their new album Wound Up, which drops in January.
"We all work hard in every aspect of our lives, but we find catharsis in music and performance and we will do it til the wheels fall off,” says Perkins. “This album to me is about that, we all get a bit wound up sometimes but we keep going and we do what we have to do.”
After their Aussie run of shows, Radium Dolls head Stateside for the very first time, with their tour including an SXSW Showcase.
