Adelaide indie rockers Purée’s new EP What Happens Now? is now out in the world.
Balancing polished pop sensibilities with an indie-rock edge, the EP showcases the quartet’s growth as a band. The six-track release contains the previously released singles ‘Someone You’d Like’, ‘GO’ and ‘Inspired To Do Nothing’ and new tracks ‘A4’, ‘Maybe It’s You’ and ‘Better’.
Discussing the making of the EP, lead singer Matt Holland says, “What Happens Now? Is almost like a big red marker on the Purée timeline, a turning point or a shift in the matrix.
“It’s a collection of songs that signify some big changes for us as a band, and also as individuals. Throughout the last few years we’ve each experienced some pretty brutal life events and this EP is a reflection of everything we’ve been through together, and alone.
“To be honest, it kind of feels like a therapy session in a way. Processing things that have happened, learning new things about life, each other and ourselves, and ultimately looking forward to whatever happens next. This EP means the world to us, and feels like our most honest work.”
In support of their sophomore EP, Purée have announced a short run of shows next year, kicking things off with a hometown gig at Adelaide’s Jive on Friday 27 February. The quartet then perform at Melbourne’s The Retreat on Saturday 28 February, Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory on Friday 6 March and Brisbane’s Blues on Saturday 7 March.
