Experimental alt-pop creative Poppy has announced the release of her hotly anticipated new album, Empty Hands.

Set for release January 23 2026, via Sumerian Records (pre-order here), Poppy’s seventh studio album takes inspiration from industrial music, classic pop, and the two-time Grammy-nominated artist’s surrealist roots.

Poppy has also shared the killer first single from the project, a bruising assault of heavy noise partnered by Poppy’s fierce scream entitled ‘Bruised Sky’. Produced and co-written with longtime collaborator Jordan Fish, ‘Bruised Sky’ is accompanied by a music video directed by Orie McGinness that shows Poppy and her band performing in a dystopian world.

Empty Hands arrives midway through Poppy’s upcoming Constantly Nowhere tour of Australia. Performing alongside Melbourne nu metal masters Ocean Grove and Sydney metal rockers Inertia, Poppy takes over Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall on Tuesday 20 January, before hitting Sydney’s Roundhouse on Wednesday 21 January, Melbourne’s The Forum on Thursday 22 January and Adelaide’s Hindley Street Music Hall on Saturday 24 January, finishing up at Fremantle’s Metropolis on Monday 26 January.

2025 has been a breakthrough year for Poppy. The American singer-songwriter’s collab with Knocked Loose, ‘Suffocate’, was nominated for Best Metal Performance at the 2025 Grammy Awards, while she also covered Wham!’s classic ‘Last Christmas’ exclusively for Spotify. Then there’s ‘End of You’, her team-up with Amy Lee and Courtney LaPlante that went gangbusters.

On the live front, Poppy just finished up the second leg of her They’re All Around Us tour and supported Linkin Park on several dates as she prepares for the next chapter of her intriguing career.

Catch Poppy performing at Hindley Street Music Hall on Saturday 24 January. Ticketing details available at livenation.com.au.
