Pete Murray has a lot going on at the moment. The singer-songwriter, who is now an independent artist after two decades, is just about to kick off his East Coast tour in support of his seventh long player, Longing. He’s also released a new greatest hits record, Acoustic Roots Vol. 1, which is exclusive to vinyl and CD and only available here, and has begun re-recording his old albums a la Taylor Swift to reclaim ownership of his music.
If that’s not enough on his plate, he’s also found the time to release a remix of his hit song ‘Better Days’ with Y.O.G.A. (Reuben Styles, one half of Peking Duk).
Taking to social media to reveal the remix, Murray commented: “This song’s been part of my life for a long time, so it’s really cool hearing it come back with a fresh groove and new energy. Big thanks to @youreonlygreatalways for giving it a new feel 🙌🥳 Hope you enjoy this version and have a bit of fun with it over the summer.”
The result is a slightly sped-up dancefloor banger that’s sure to give ‘Better Days’ another life over the festive season.
Although his upcoming tour isn’t making its way to Adelaide, Murray will be here in February for A Day in the Gully, the new one-day northern suburbs festival. Held at Modbury’s Civic Park on Saturday 28 February, Murray will be joined by an awesome lineup of Aussie acts including The Living End, Ball Park Music, Chet Faker, Mallrat, Disco Lines, Teenage Joans and The Tullamarines.
Final release tickets are on sale now via adayinthegully.com.au.
