Pete Murray is back with his hotly anticipated eighth studio album, Longing.
Murray’s latest is also his first independent full-length album in almost two decades and is accompanied by the release of the focus track, ‘Higher’.
A song about pushing past your limits and achieving greatness, Murray called ‘Higher’ “a battle cry,” sharing, “When you hear the chorus ‘Higher, Higher, Leave It All Behind’ - I want you to feel that surge of energy, that belief that nothing can hold you back.”
Longing features the previously released singles ‘Wouldn’t It Be Good’, ‘I Am Fire’, ‘Home To Me’ and ‘Fire’, and is an album Murray explains is ten years in the making:
“Longing, this is a very special album to me. It's my second-ever independent album. My first one came out in 2001, The Game. This one is special, as it's taken 10 years to put together. It’s made up of the best songs that I hadn't quite finished over time, I'd just kept putting them into an unfinished folder until I had enough to make it an album. And I feel it's a really strong album because it's 10 years worth of work and that's a life lived. So, for me, it's very special and I hope you guys enjoy it.”
Longing is available to stream now via this link.
