Emerging local outfit Pearly Stars have announced the release of new charity compilation, Impermanent Candy Volume One.

Partly inspired by the amazing work of Musicians for Palestine, the compilation, which features a host of local queer artists, is Pearly Stars’ way of “giving back” to the local community, with all funds raised going towards Pride Foundation Australia.

Labelling themselves “an outwardly queer young band”, Pearly Stars are all about increasing equality for LGBTQIA+ Australians and are doing their bit with the creation of Impermanent Candy.

Released via Pax Ink Records, Pearly Stars’ independent digital distribution label, the compilation features 19 tracks from a bunch of awesome Adelaide/Kaurna Land artists who are part of our vibrant queer community.

The compilation runs the gamut of genres, with everything from folk and indie to screamo and rock represented, and includes songs from The Empty Threats, Placements, Rosie and the Posies, The Genevieves and more.

Impermanent Candy will be released digitally on Bandcamp on Saturday 18 July, the same day as the album launch party at Carclew, which will include performances from a stack of artists appearing on the compilation, including Pearly Stars, Placement and june was here, playing their debut show.

Punters will also be able to grab physical copies of the album and a stack of merch on the day. Tickets on sale now via humanitix.com.

The release of Impermanent Candy Volume One arrives a few months after Pearly Stars’ debut EP, The Greatest Gift.

Produced by local legend Matt Schultz (The Empty Threats, Twine) and mixed and mastered by Finn Larcombe (Genevieves, Druid Fluids, Bat Country) at Interim Studios, The Greatest Gift features four genre-bending tracks and showcases the talent within the band.

The Greatest Gift is a culmination of the last year, a whirlwind of love, queer joy, and outward musical expression, made to get your heart feeling and your body moving,” the band said in a statement. “Through a wide range of sounds to target every emotion, for a wide range of audiences, Pearly Stars made the greatest possible gift for you.”

Catch Placement, The Empty Threats, Pearly Stars and more performing at the launch of Impermanent Candy Volume One at Carclew on Saturday 18 July. Tickets on sale now via humanitix.com.
