Ocean Sleeper Share New Single ‘My Forever Drug’
The metalcore heroes are also hitting the road this September.

Just over a month out from the release of Ocean Sleeper’s hotly anticipated sophomore album Peace When I’m Dead, out Friday 21 August via BMG Australia/Rise Records, the metalcore quartet have shared their latest single ‘My Forever Drug’.
A melodic, riff-heavy dagger to the heart, ‘My Forever Drug’ was written by the band in collaboration with LA producers Jon Lundin (Point North, Sleeping With Sirens) and Curt Martin (Catch Your Breath, Kami Kehoe).
Engineered in Melbourne at Ocean Sleeper guitarist and clean vocalist Ionei Heckenberg's Studio and mixed and mastered in Portland by Jeff Dunne (Wage War, Knocked Loose, Motionless In White, Disturbed), the track continues Ocean Sleeper’s evolution as one of Australia’s biggest metalcore outfits.
The track is accompanied by a music video that forms a narrative series of three clips that includes the previously released singles ‘Break The Cycle’ and ‘Peace When I'm Dead’. In the music video, a man is forced to relive the loss of a partner to suicide over and over again.
It’s dark and ugly, but Ocean Sleeper refuses to shy away from the issues confronting society today, with the ‘My Forever Drug’ written and recorded in just six hours at Curt Martin's LA studio.
Speaking about the album, vocalist Karl Spiessl says, “This band has never been afraid to dive into the darker parts of our lives, and this album is no exception. At its core, the record explores the ongoing battle we have with ourselves - that constant inner struggle that can feel endless. It's about coming to terms with the idea that this conflict may always be part of the human experience, and learning to accept that reality.”

“Taking so many negative emotions and transforming them into something positive, almost spiritual for the live setting - where people can scream the words back and release their own demons - is something we’re proud to share with our fans,” expresses Spiessl. “Peace When I’m Dead was written with live energy at its core, and we can’t wait to take it on tour.”
