Regional Victoria metalcore beasts Ocean Sleeper have announced the release of their sophomore album Peace When I’m Dead, out Friday 21 August via BMG Australia/Rise Records.

The album is an exploration of grief, guilt and regret written and recorded in Ionei Heckenberg's (Ocean Sleeper’s clean vocalist and guitarist) home studio in Melbourne, Los Angeles and Portland.

The band enlisted metalcore heavyweight Jeff Dunne (Make Them Suffer, Disturbed, Knocked Loose) to mix and master the album, with producers Jon Lundin (Falling In Reverse, Point North, Set It Off) and Curt Martin (Catch Your Breath, Kami Kehoe) behind the boards.

“This band has never been afraid to dive into the darker parts of our lives, and this album is no exception,” says Karl Spiessl, lead vocalist. “At its core, the record explores the ongoing battle we have with ourselves - that constant inner struggle that can feel endless. It's about coming to terms with the idea that this conflict may always be part of the human experience, and learning to accept that reality.”

Not only have they revealed when their new album is dropping, but Ocean Sleeper have also shared the record’s title track, a powerful follow-up to their May comeback single ‘Break The Cycle’.

The single is accompanied by a music video crafted by Freeman Films (Tones & I, Parkway Drive), who also worked on the clip for ‘Break The Cycle’.

“Nothing good comes easy and is worth every fall in pushing forward,” says Spiessl of the track. “For us, like many others, opportunities haven't come easily to this band, but we have worked tirelessly to achieve our wins and will continue to push forward until peace comes to us all.”

Ocean Sleeper are also hitting the road this September on a four-date tour with special guests Nevertel, Vana and Outloved. Things kick off at Liberty Hall in Sydney on Friday 4 September, followed by dates at Brisbane’s The Princess Theatre on Saturday 5 September, Magnet House in Perth on Thursday 10 September, Hindley Street Music Hall in Adelaide on Friday 11 September, ending with a massive home state show at the Forum in Melbourne on Saturday 12 September.

Ocean Sleeper’s upcoming Peace When I’m Dead Tour of Australia is just a small sample of a global run that includes 82 shows between now and February 2027.

The band heads to the UK and Europe this June and July for their debut headline tour with Nevertel, followed by their Aussie dates in September. From there, Ocean Sleeper returns to the US with Nevertel, joins Parkway Drive's Hellbound Cruise in October and gets 2027 underway supporting Catch Your Breath throughout Europe and the UK.

“Taking so many negative emotions and transforming them into something positive, almost spiritual for the live setting - where people can scream the words back and release their own demons - is something we’re proud to share with our fans,” expresses Spiessl. “Peace When I’m Dead was written with live energy at its core, and we can’t wait to take it on tour.”

Peace When I’m Dead is out Friday 21 August via BMG Australia/Rise Records. Pre-order here. Catch Ocean Sleeper at Hindley Street Music Hall on Friday 11 September. Ticketing information is available at oceansleeper.com.
