All good things must come to an end, and sadly, today is the day Northeast Party House call it quits. After 15 years of electrifying audiences across the globe with their funky disco-indie blend, the Melbourne party band are bringing the curtain down on a stellar career with one last epic Aussie tour.
“It feels strange but also right to announce that the year of our 15th anniversary will also be our last,” the band said in a statement. “We are hitting the road one last time to cap off an incredible 15 year run to say thank you to everyone who has danced, partied, sang, written to us and contributed.”
Breaking through at the height of the 2000s indie movement, Northeast Party House won triple j's Unearthed competition in 2010 and followed up with their debut self-titled EP in 2011. Building a rep as one of the country’s most notorious live acts, Northeast Party House finally dropped their debut album, Any Given Weekend, to much fanfare in 2014.
The five-piece went on to release a further three albums – 2016’s Dare, 2019’s Shelf Life and 2024’s Enhancer – released a stack of charting singles and toured the world multiple times over, playing major festivals along with sold-out headline tours.
The lads’ final tour ever takes place this October and November and gets underway at Freo Social in Fremantle on Friday 17 October. Northeast Party House’s farewell parties continue at The Gov in Adelaide (Saturday 18 October), Factory Theatre in Sydney (Saturday 25 October) and The Tivoli in Brisbane (Friday 14 November), with the final blowout in their hometown of Melbourne at 170 Russell on Friday 28 November.
Joining Northeast Party House will be Aussie DJ BENSON, with tickets for all concerts on sale Thursday 7 August at 10am AEST via northeastpartyhouse.com.

“When we first started Northeast it was our dream to create a space where people could enjoy a gig like it was a friend’s house party. We had no idea that the house party would last for 15 years,” the band declared in a lengthy statement about their decision to disband.
“Our achievements were built on the back of sleeping on floors of friends and fans houses because we couldn’t afford a hostel, breaking down on the side of the road and missing our first interstate show, camping illegally on the side of the freeway, and a nutritious tour diet of service station dinners. Looking back at all of it, good or bad, we have been so lucky and we are all so grateful for the journey.
“We would like to thank all of our fans, families and friends for their unwavering support over the years. From the very beginning you were the energy that propelled us from our first show supporting Jinja Safari at Rats (Brown Alley), to our first festival at Pyramid rock and beyond. You have given us more stories than we can count, joys and life experiences that we will carry with us for the rest of our lives.
“And lastly we’d like to say thank you to all of the teams, agencies, labels, distributors, techs, venues, merch sellers, and a special thank you to our manager and former label partner, Andy Bryan, and the incredible friends we have worked with at Six Boroughs, and Rob G our agent, who we have worked with pretty much since the beginning.”
