Local upstarts Molly Rocket are back with thrilling new single, ‘When He Walks Around’.
Fresh from supporting Grinspoon earlier this month, the Adelaide quartet’s latest rocker is an unconventional love song recorded with Tim Maxwell (LOSER) at Melbourne’s Wrangler Studios. It’s got a real late ‘90s feel to it, with a little Weezer floating through the hook.
“‘When He Walks Around’ is a vibrant, catchy feel-good rock song inspired by the Celebrity Skin-era of grunge icons Hole, as well as the many girl-led groups of that time,” explains Molly Rocket. “The song captures the thrill of meeting someone who completely changes your world- and the fear that often comes with that shift.”
The band adds, “Lyrically, it follows a journey of infatuation with a stranger, through uncertainty, and ultimately to full acceptance of who that person is. The chorus becomes an anthem for embracing love, imperfections and all, within a chaotic world.”
The release of ‘When He Walks Around’ coincides with Molly Rocket announcing their sophomore EP, The Dogs Are Barking, which will arrive in early 2026.

In the space of four short years, Molly Rocket have established themselves as one of SA’s most exciting rock acts. The band have released a stack of well-received singles (‘DIVE’ is a cracker), along with the 2023 debut EP Syrup, and shared the stage with Aussie acts including Bean Magazine, Teenage Joans, Press Club, King Stingray, Ocean Grove and more.
This year Molly Rocket supported Grinspoon on their massive Australian tour and are gearing up to play alongside Oz-rock legends Gyroscope and Magic Dirt in December. The band will then support DZ Deathrays on their Easing Out Of Control tour throughout January 2026, before embarking on their own headline tour, performing in Melbourne, Sydney, Wollongong, and, of course, their home city of Adelaide.
