During his lifetime, Lou Reed was one of the most influential artists of modern America, whose career spanned more than five decades.

Getting his first big break as the founder of The Velvet Underground, releasing four albums in four years, Reed became a global star when he went solo in the ‘70s. His sophomore album, 1972’s glam rock record Transformer, was a critical and commercial success and produced several of his most famous songs – ‘Walk on the Wild Side’, ‘Perfect Day’ and ‘Satellite of Love’.

Reed continued to release albums regularly throughout the ‘80s before focusing on other projects once the ‘90s came around, including a collaborative album with John Cale and contributing music to the theatre production Time Rocker.

He continued to record with various artists and released several albums throughout the 00s before his tragic death in 2013 from liver disease.

While Reed might be gone, he’s never forgotten, with Celebrating Lou Reed, The Velvet Underground & Nico shaping as a wonderful and heartfelt tribute to one of the greats.
