Former Spice Girl Melanie C has shared her ninth album, Sweat.
Arriving six years on from her 2020 self-titled release, Sweat is out via Virgin Music Group. The record includes the singles ‘Sweat’, ‘What Could Possibly Go Wrong?’, ‘Undefeated Champion’ and ‘Attitude’, along with the pulsating focus track ‘Drum Machine’.
“Drum Machine is about finding someone who makes you feel alive again - that deep connection where love runs through your whole body, lifts your spirit, and sets your heart to a different beat,” explains Melanie C of the hedonistic tune.
Sweat is a throwback to Melanie C’s early years as Melanie Chisholm of The F**king Yeah Four, a group of 18-year-old mates who immersed themselves in the rave scene of the early ‘90s.
Recorded in London, Stockholm and LA, Sweat is a celebration of joy, movement and community, with the album containing 13 tracks of feel-good, upbeat EDM made for dancing.
The album unites every part of her story: the athlete, the pop icon, the underground DJ and the teenager who fell in love with rave culture. It’s a record about resilience and joy in dark times.
“There are so many horrific things going on in the world, when you make pop and dance music, it can seem almost churlish,” Melanie C says. “But music is what gets me through tough moments. I’m really happy I am bringing out a joyful record at a very dark time.”

After the group split up in the year 2000, Melanie C embarked on a successful solo career, releasing nine albums, including her debut record Northern Star (1999), which debuted at #4 on the UK Album Chart and produced the #1 hits ‘Never Be the Same Again’ and ‘I Turn To You’, and becoming one of the most indemand DJs across Europe.
Sweat ushers in the next chapter of Melanie C’s career as she reconnects with the club music that soundtrack her youth.
