Alt-rock legends Magic Dirt are celebrating the 25th anniversary of their iconic track ‘Dirty Jeans’ with a career-spanning national tour.
South Australia gets to see two shows from Magic Dirt, with Adalita and co performing at Lion Arts Factory alongside Gyrocsope on Friday 5 December and on the bill of the inaugural Live in Lincoln on Saturday 6 December with the likes of Bad//Dreems, Ethanol Blend, Nick Cunningham and more.
“This Nov/Dec, we’re hitting the road to mark 25 years since ‘Dirty Jeans’ first made its mark. Born from a scrappy cassette demo in a Melbourne share house, it became our first charting single and a career-defining anthem - packed with handclaps, tropical guitar licks and hooks galore!” Magic Dirt shared on social media.
“Originally scribbled down and taped by Adalita in 1999, the song was nearly lost before being produced by Greg Wales and Dean Turner into the pop-grunge classic you know today. Released in July 2000 on our third album, What Are Rock Stars Doing Today, it hit #68 on the ARIA National Charts, #11 on the ARIA Alternative Top 20 and #12 in the triple j Hottest 100 - not bad for a rough-as-guts bedroom demo.”
The post concluded with: “It’ll be sweaty, loud and a little nostalgic and ‘…that’s the way we like it!’ Hopefully see you out there.”
The tour, which takes in 12 gigs across the country, will see the band supported by a killer lineup of special guests, with the set list comprising deep cuts, Magic Dirt classics and even some new tunes the band are roadtesting before entering the studio.

The band then perform shows in Geelong, Adelaide, Port Lincoln, Belgrave, Beechworth, Castlemaine, Frankston, Archies Creek, Balnarring and Mayfield, before ending with a show at Sydney’s Crowbar on Saturday 31 January.
