Born in the UK but raised in Canada, Lauren Spencer Smith got her start posting videos of her performing cover songs on YouTube before getting a chance to compete on the 18th season of American Idol in 2020.
Although she got booted from the competition during the Top 20 round, Spencer Smith’s love for songwriting and performing never wavered. Her first single, 2022’s ‘Fingers Crossed’, blew up on TikTok and led Spencer Smith to being signed by Republic.
Her debut album, Mirror, arrived a year later in 2023 to rave reviews and established Spencer Smith as a talent to watch moving forward.
As she gears up for the release of her second album, The Art of Being a Mess, Spencer Smith shared her latest single ‘If Karma Doesn’t Get You (I Will)’, a track she says “taps into a sound that’s edgier, darker, and more honest than anything I’ve released before.”
