The new era of Kisschasy continues with the release of melodic rocker, ‘Parasite’
Following on from the band’s recent run of live shows in support of their seminal album Hymns For The Non-Believers and the release of their return single ‘Lie To Me’, Kisschasy’s latest track ‘Parasite’ is a ‘90s alt-rock throwback fans are sure to dig.
“Whether it’s a relationship with a person or a vice, most of us have found ourselves, at some point, unable to let go of something that drains our life force,” frontman Darren Cordeux says of ‘Parasite’.
Recorded with Richard Stolz (Paul Kelly, Bodyjar), mixed by John O’Mahony (Coldplay, Metric) and produced by Cordeaux between Woodstock Studios in Melbourne and Cordeaux’s own studio in Los Angeles, the band wanted to keep ‘Parasite’ as organic as possible.
“We used old tube amps, old tube microphones, no autotune and very few effects; our aim being to avoid anything being overthought or overwrought,” says Cordeux. “The trouble with modern recording is that you can get caught in this feedback loop of constantly tweaking a song to the point that it loses its spark, its soul.
“One advantage we have as a band is that we’ve been the same four members since Day One. We speak a subliminal musical language that means that, even if there are mistakes, they work somehow. Perfection is boring anyway.”

Melbourne quartet Kisschasy rose to fame in the early ‘00s with the release of their sophomore album, Hymns for the Non-Beleivers.
Peaking at #5 on the ARIA Album Chart, the record is Certified Gold and gifted us the hit singles ‘Opinions Won't Keep You Warm at Night, ‘Spray on Pants, ‘Strings and Drums’ and ‘Ugly Birds in a Beautiful Cage’.
Comprising lead vocalist Darren Cordeux, bassist Joel Vanderuit, guitarist Sean Thomas and drummer Karl Ammitzboll, Kisschasy cemented their status as one of the country’s best acts with their 2009 third album Seizures. Kisschasy continued to tour and tease new music before deciding to bring the band to an end in 2015.
Making their live return in 2022 at Good Things, Kisschasy rediscovered their chemistry and embarked on an Aussie tour the following year. Now with new music in the locker for the first time in 16 years, Kisschasy are ready to remind people why they are so beloved.
