Ahead of their first Australian tour in a whopping 24 years, Scottish indie rock act Travis have announced Josh Pyke as their main support.
Touring Australia to celebrate the 26th anniversary of their hit album The Man Who, Travis will perform the record in full alongside fan favourites from throughout their storied career.
Acclaimed singer-songwriter Josh Pyke, who is currently wrapping up his own tour of the country commemorating 20 years since the release of his seminal mini-album Feeding the Wolves, took to social media to tell his fans how excited he is to be performing with Travis.
“I’m SO excited to be opening for the legendary Travis!” he wrote. “Of course everyone knows ‘Sing’ and ‘Why Does It Always Rain on Me’, but I vividly remember hearing ‘Writing to Reach You’ when I was in the depths of my punk phase in ‘99 and being struck by the melodic and deceptively simple classic songwriting. I loved the kinda gentle self-deprecating humour in the line “what’s a wonderwall anyway”. ‘Side’ and ‘Driftwood’ are some other faves, and I’ll be side of stage singing along every night. Very stoked for this one!”
Travis’ The Man Who in Concert Tour begins in Fremantle at the Metropolis on Thursday 8 January. The band then plays Melbourne’s Festival Hall on Saturday 10 January, Adelaide’s Hindley Street Music Hall on Monday 12 January and Sydney’s ICC Sydney Theatre on Wednesday 14 January, finishing up at Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall on Friday 16 January.

Taking their name from the great Harry Dean Stanton’s character Travis Henderson in the film Paris, Texas, Travis became huge in 1999 with the release of their sophomore album, The Man Who.
Spending nine weeks at the top of the UK Albums Chart, the record has sold over 3.5 million copies worldwide and gifted music fans the hit singles ‘Why Does It Always Rain On Me?’, ‘Turn’, ‘Driftwood’ and ‘Writing To Reach You’. They followed up two years later with The Invisible Band, which sold more copies in four weeks than The Man Who did in six months, thanks to the massive tune, ‘Sing’.
Despite failing to match the commercial success of their early years, Travis continues to release acclaimed albums and tour the globe.
