Gearing up to celebrate 20 years of his mini-album Feeding the Wolves with an Australian tour, Sydney singer-songwriter Josh Pyke has announced four Aussie artists who will support him at the shows across the country this November.

Pyke has handpicked four homegrown talents from Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide to support him in their respective states. Perth has no support act after Pyke sold out his original show and added a second, meaning he is performing back-to-back gigs on the same night.

Pyke’s Feeding the Wolves and Other Stories 20th anniversary tour begins at Sydney’s City Recital Hall on Saturday 1 November with special guest singer-songwriter Lenka. Pyke will be joined by singer-songwriter Tim Hart (founding member of Boy & Bear) in Brisbane at The Princes Theatre on Thursday 6 November and by Naarm alt-folk songwriter Bec Sykes at Melbourne’s Recital Centre on Friday 7 November. The Adelaide concert at The Gov on Friday 14 November features the talented Chloe Sea.

The tour wraps in Perth with two shows at The Rechabite on Saturday 15 November.

Tickets for Josh Pyke are on sale now via joshpyke.com.

To coincide with the tour, Pyke is releasing Feeding With Wolves on vinyl for the first time, with every copy signed by the artist himself. The record is available to pre-order now via Mushroom Music and will arrive on October 24.

“21 years ago, I was working in a record store, chipping away at demos for a solo project, and dreaming of being a full-time musician. One year later I signed with Ivy League Records, released Feeding the Wolves, and my entire life changed,” Pyke explains.

“I remember playing the Sydney leg of the Big Day Out in 2005 and seeing the crowd trickle in during my set until it was at capacity by the end. The same day ‘Middle of the Hill’ entered the Hottest 100 at number 19, and I pretty much hit the road touring and never stopped.

FTW was nominated for an ARIA that same year, and suddenly I was sitting at a table pinching myself, surrounded by artists whose records I’d been selling at the store the year before. I was signed to Island Records in the UK and Europe and started heading back and forth across the world touring in the UK, mixing records in New York and playing festivals like Glastonbury.

“It was a wild time, and I feel like it’s only now that I can reflect on it with a bit of distance. This 20-year period has been the craziest whirlwind and the biggest adventure I could have ever imagined. I can’t wait to play the songs and tell the stories that kicked that adventure off to celebrate a career that I’m immensely grateful for, and incredibly proud of.”

Fresh from wowing audiences across the UK and Europe and supporting the likes of James Taylor and Passenger, Pyke will be bringing a career-defining experience to crowds across the country this November.
