In May, John Butler was revealed as one of the headline acts performing at Adelaide Guitar Festival 2025 in support of his new album, PRISM.

Today, the multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter has announced a fully fledged Australian tour, hitting both capital cities and regional areas across September and October.

“I am really looking forward to touring Oz again with the band for the PRISM album launch. Loving playing with Ian Peres, Michael Boase and reuniting with Michael Barker on the drums. We’ve been having such a great time bringing these new songs to life on stage and the older songs are sounding BETTER THAN ever. Sorry couldn’t help myself!”

The tour will see Butler joined by a couple of special guests, including award-winning singer-songwriter Emma Donovan and folk-friendly act The Waifs.

The tour kicks off at Bunbury’s Regional Entertainment Centre on Friday 5 September and hits a huge list of cities and towns, including Adelaide, Ballarat, Thirroul, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba and Darwin, before the final concert at Townsville’s Civic Theatre on Sunday 5 October.

Tickets go on sale this Friday 20 June at 11:30am via johnbutlertrio.com. Tickets for Butler’s Adelaide performance are on sale now via guitar.adelaidefestivalcentre.com.au.

Arriving September 5 via Jarrah Records (pre-order here), PRISM is Butler’s tenth solo studio album. Produced by Butler alongside James Ireland (POND, San Cisco), PRISM is the blues and roots artist’s third release from his Four Season project – a quadrilogy of albums that includes the previously released Running River and instrumental album Still Searching.

“It’s a big life and, the world, in many ways, is in turmoil. Personally, I did a lot of soul-searching and reflecting as this record took shape,” Butler says about PRISM.

“For me, PRISM is a cathartic release, a celebration of going solo, moving away from the John Butler Trio moniker, and yet another sonic stretch as I continue to refine my musical journey. The title reflects the sonic and emotional “bandwidth” I wanted to explore: the whole spectrum of what it is to be human. Love, death, politics, inner and outer turmoil and redemption.”

Catch John Butler performing as part of Adelaide Guitar Festival 2025 at Her Majesty’s Theatre on Wednesday, September 10. Tickets on sale now via guitar.adelaidefestivalcentre.com.au. PRISM arrives September 5 via Jarrah Records (pre-order here).
