Jimmy Barnes Celebrates 40th Anniversary of ‘For the Working Class Man’ with Epic Tour
Barnesy is playing his iconic sophomore album in its entirety.

Iconic Aussie singer Jimmy Barnes is celebrating the 40th anniversary of his sophomore album, For The Working Class Man, with an epic six-date tour.
Barnesy will perform the album in its entirety at each concert, from the opening salvo ‘I’d Die To Be With You Tonight’ to the album’s closing triumphant ‘Paradise’, along with a selection of classic cuts from his historic back catalogue.
Spending seven weeks at number one and selling more than 500,000 copies in Australia, For The Working Class Man is Barnes’ most successful solo album.
“For The Working Class Man was such a significant album in my life,” Barnes recalls. “I got to make the record with some amazing people, and it really set up the rest of my solo career. I’m so excited to be celebrating For The Working Class Man with some of my dearest friends and favourite artists. And I can think of no better way to mark this milestone than by performing these songs in some of the most beautiful and iconic outdoor venues across Australia.”
Barnesy’s 40th anniversary For The Working Class Man tour thunders into Geelong’s Mount Duneed Estate on Saturday 22 November and continues with concerts at Mount Cotton’s Sirromet Wine (Saturday 29 November), Hunter Valley’s Bimbadgen (Saturday 6 December), Hobart’s The Regatta Grounds (Saturday 17 January) and Barossa Valley’s Peter Lehmann Wines, culminating in a huge show at Swan Valley’s Sandalford Wines on Saturday 7 February.
Joining Jimmy on tour are some of the country’s best acts, with the Iva Davies-led ICEHOUSE, Cold Chisel bandmate Ian Moss and celebrated singer and songwriter Kate Ceberano all supporting Barnes on tour.

Jimmy Barnes is an Aussie icon who’s been at the forefront of Australian pub rock for five decades. For The Working Class Man showcased Barnesy could forge a successful career as a solo artist, with the authors of The 100 Best Australian Albums declaring the album “defined both him and much of Australia.”
To coincide with the tour, Mushroom Music will release a special 40th anniversary edition of For The Working Class Man on Friday 11 November. Available for preorder now via this link, the newly remastered anniversary version of the album will be released as a 2LP ‘flame’ coloured, hand-poured vinyl in a gatefold jacket. This will be the first time For The Working Class Man has been available as two vinyl records since its original release. The album will also be available on CD and cassette.
Mushroom Music are also dropping a limited edition boxset of coloured vinyl 7”s comprising the singles taken from the album – ‘Ride The Night Away’, ‘I'd Die To Be With You Tonight’ and ‘Working Class Man’ – along with a stripped back and reworked version of ‘Working Class Man’ accompanied by a ten mintue video of Barnesy reflecting on the creation of the iconic music video.
