UK singer-songwriter James Marriott has kicked off the New Year with the release of his brand spanking new single ‘California Rain’.
The first song shared by Marriott since the release of his UK #1 album Don’t Tell The Dog, ‘California Rain’ is a snazzy pop wonder from the Brighton-born artist, who debuted the track live at his two sold-out shows at London’s Roundhouse late last year.
As reported by DORK, Marriott had this to say about the single: “‘California Rain’ is a song written on tour about culture shocks and touring the United States as an Englishman. Its lyrics take semblance from missing your home life/people whilst self-doubt and imposter syndrome captures you whilst away. In the spirit of not knowing what you have until you don’t have it, ‘the rain won’t stop me now’ takes the thing that British people complain about the most and transforms it into something hopeful and to be missed.”
The track is accompanied by a music video directed by Herbie Elton, which you can check out below.
