Melbourne wordsmith Ivan Ooze is preparing for the biggest tour of his career, with the rapper announcing a massive 13-date run of shows in support of his forthcoming debut album, Isolation of Mistaken Infamy.

More than a decade in the making, Isolation of Mistaken Infamy is a collection of personal songs exploring identity, perception and the weight of being misunderstood.

Taking to social media to announce the tour, Ooze included a lengthy statement about the tour and new album.

“This is without a doubt the BIGGEST announcement I’ve ever made… because this is officially the BIGGEST headline tour of my career,” Ooze wrote.

“My debut album Isolation Of Mistaken Infamy drops July 30th and straight after that I’m taking it around the entire country for my first ever national album tour. This one means absolutely everything to me.

“These are the biggest rooms I’ve EVER attempted to headline… so genuinely if you’ve ever wanted to support me or experience one of my shows live, then now is the time. I want every single one of these packed wall-to-wall.

“I also just want to say thank you for over 10+ years of support. Even when I disappeared for a bit, you all never stopped asking for music. Coming back and feeling this level of love has honestly been surreal.

“Let’s make this one of the biggest independent Australian hip hop tours ever and celebrate this long overdue debut album properly.

“IM READY. LET’S GET IT!!!!!!!”

Ooze’s Australian tour begins in Tassie with two shows at Devonport’s Pub Rock Diner on Friday 14 August and Hobart’s Altar Bar on Saturday 15 August. Ozze then returns to the mainland for shows at Townsville’s The Warehouse on Friday 21 August, Sunshine Coast’s Kings Beach Tavern on Saturday 22 August, Gold Coast’s Mo’s Desert Clubhouse on Friday 28 August and Brisbane’s Brightside Outdoors on Saturday 29 August.

Tickets aren’t officially on sale, but fans can DM Ooze on Instagram to score a private ticket link to a show in their city.

There was a time when it seemed like Ivan Ooze was the next big thing, but it hasn’t quite panned out that way, despite a stream of singles, two mixtapes and support slots for the likes of Wu-Tang Clan, Ice Cube and Cypress Hill.

That said, excitement is high for Isolation of Mistaken Infamy, with many hoping this could be the big breakthrough for the talented Ooze.

Catch Ivan Oooze at Jive on Friday 4 September. Ticketing information is available at @ivanuzi. Isolation of Mistaken Infamy is our Friday 30 July.
