The Adelaide music scene continues to inspire new events and festivals, with the latest being Voodoo Village Soul Festival.
The inaugural event takes place at 10 Gallon Hat on Saturday 18 April and features a gathering of Adelaide artists inspired by soul and R&B music from the ‘50s through to today.
The lineup features five acts fronted by powerful and talented women: Ms Chipeta, Jupiter Saloon, Meena De Silva, Opulence and Letica Lee.
Malawian Australian singer-songwriter Ms Chipeta, who has also been announced as part of this year’s New Found Sound lineup, weaves feel-good, sentimental soul, R&B and pop through her compositions and will be backed by her talented band.
Led by singer Eloise Addams and guitarist Nick Pipe, Jupiter Saloon are inspired by classic pop acts such as Fleetwood Mac and Irma Thomas, along with recent soul revivalists such as Amy Winehouse and Saskwatch.
Then you have Meena De Silva, a Sri Lankan-Australian artist who takes influence from pop icons like Rihanna, Beyoncé and Shakira, who was handpicked to perform at WOMADelaide 2025 as part of the Northern Sound System Academy program, and vocal trio OPULENCE, who bring contemporary ‘90s nostalgia as they merge R&B with soul melodies, crafting a dynamic and fresh sound.
Last but not least is Letica Lee, a recent jazz graduate from the Elder Conservatorium who made her 2026 Adelaide Fringe debut with Like A Star, a Corinne Bailey Rae tribute. She’ll be backed by a full band and perform her own set of original pop-soul music at Voodoo Village Soul Festival.

Voodoo Village Soul Festival is another great showcase of Adelaide’s incredible music scene, with Jupiter Saloon guitarist and Festival co-producer Nick Pipe excited about delivering a community-minded event.
“This festival is all about building more of a community around the excellent soul-inspired artists we have in Adelaide,” Pipe says. “It's naturally powerful music that's made to be performed live - so this is a perfect way to show the quality of our local talent and get more people buzzing about it. I'm grateful to 10 Gallon Hat for backing the concept too, because it's a beautiful venue with a style that complements the music perfectly.”
Director and Owner of 10 Gallon Hat, Dylan Nettleton, adds, “Great music is at the soul of what we're about. For the first annual Voodoo Village Soul Festival, we're proud to welcome five of Adelaide's most talented soul and R&B artists to 10 Gallon Hat and showcase these amazing acts in an intimate setting under the stars of our beer garden.”
It’s not just the organisers who are keen, with headliner Ms Chipeta “hopeful the community shows up and enjoys the Voodoo Village Soul Festival,” while fellow performer Meena De Silva is looking forward to playing new songs and is “keen to show off more Adelaide talent and be a part of a merging of artists of such similar genres.”
