2025 marks the 30th anniversary of Grinspoon, so to celebrate, the lads are embarking on the 30th Birthday Bonanza tour.
The quartet of vocalist Phil Jamieson, guitarist Pat Davern, bassist Joe Hansen and drummer Kristian Hopes have been a staple of the Aussie music scene since taking out the inaugural triple j Unearthed competition three decades ago.
Since then, the Grinners have gone on to release eight albums, including last year’s Whatever, Whatever, won an ARIA Award in 2004 for Best Rock Album (Thrills, Kills + Sunday Pills) and toured the globe, playing intimate club gigs, arena shows and festival stages.
“We are beyond humbled and downright flippin' thrilled to be celebrating our 30th anniversary with you this year (we know, we don't look a day over 29),” the band said in a statement. “Joining in our most wonderful celebrations are REGURGITATOR (halloffamers) & BAD//DREEMS (futurehalloffamers). This party will be talked about for decades. BE THERE! #yeehaw #dirtythirty.”
The Grinners’ 30th Birthday Bonanza tour hits seven venues from September to December, kicking things off with Night at the Parkland in Brisbane on Friday, September 12. The next concert takes place on Saturday, October 4 at Night at the Barracks in Manly before the band play three gigs in November at Adelaide’s AEC Arena on Saturday, November 1, Perth’s Red Hill Auditorium on Saturday, November 8 and Newcastle’s NEX on Saturday, November 29. The final two concerts take place at Canberra’s UC Refectory on Saturday, December 13, and Melbourne’s Forum on Friday, December 19.
As mentioned in their statement, Grinspoon are bringing some friends along for the ride, with Bad//Dreems (performing all dates bar Adelaide), Loose Control (Brisbane and Melbourne only), Purple Disturbance (Sydney, Newcastle, and Canberra), Regurgitator (Adelaide and Perth only), Molly Rocket (Adelaide only), and Lonesome Dove (Perth only).
Pre-sale tickets for Night At The Barracks and Night At The Parkland are available from 8:30am local time on Friday, May 16, and on Monday, May 19, respectively, with all other shows pre-sale beginning at 9:30am local time on Monday, May 19. General on-sale takes place from 9:30am local time on Thursday, May 22. For full ticketing details, visit grinspoon.com.au.

The announcement of Grinspoon’s 30th anniversary tour comes after a huge 2024 that saw the band release their critically acclaimed eighth studio album, Whatever, Whatever.
The album was produced by Oscar Dawson (Holy Holy, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers) and featured the singles ‘Unknown Pretenders’, ‘Never Say Never’ and ‘The Only One’.
Speaking on Dawson’s contribution to the album, Jamieson said, “Oscar is an incredibly talented creative, engineer, and producer. We hadn’t worked with an Australian producer for a very long time, and it was a refreshing change. Recording with Oscar became very collaborative, he’s humble and understands the different dynamics within the band.”
Grinspoon also embarked on a huge 45-date tour across Australia in support of the album, playing both capital cities and regional towns.
Catch Grinspoon at AEC Theatre on Saturday, November 1. For full ticketing information, visit grinspoon.com.au.
