Franz Ferdinand returned earlier this year with their first album in seven years, The Human Fear. To celebrate, the UK indie stalwarts announced an Australian tour, their first visit down under since 2018.
Sadly for South Aussie fans, Franz Ferdinand are bypassing the City of Churches on their five-date tour. Joining Franz Ferdinand on the road are rising Aussie act Teenage Dads, who are performing at all shows bar Thirroul.
The tour begins in Perth at Red Hill Auditorium on Wednesday, November 26 and continues with dates at Melbourne’s Royal Botanic Gardens on Friday, November 28, Brisbane’s Riverstage on Saturday, November 29, Thirroul’s Anita’s Theatre on Tuesday, December 2, and the Sydney Opera House Forecourt in Sydney on Friday, December 3.
Frontier members have access to pre-sale tickets from 9:30am local time today, Monday, May 12. General on-sale kicks off at 9:30am local time on Wednesday, May 14. For full ticketing information, visit frontiertouring.com.
The release of The Human Fear follows a quiet period of productivity from Franz Ferdinand, with their last release being the 2022 compilation Hits To The Head and the group’s last studio album, 2018’s Always Ascending.
The Human Fear is Franz Ferdinand’s first LP to feature guitarist Dino Bardot and drummer Audrey Tait, who replaced Nick McCarthy and Paul Thompson, respectively.
Pitchfork’s review of The Human Fear said it “summons the vintage swagger and suave humour of its early work,” while Rolling Stone called the album “a snazzy return to form.”
Before touching down in Australia, Franz Ferdinand have shows lined up across the UK, Europe and North America.
