Rising Naarm/Melbourne based group Folk Bitch Trio are embarking on a national tour this September in support of their much hyped debut album, Now Would Be a Good Time.
Arriving July 25 via Jagjaguwar (pre-order here), Now Would Be a Good Time has been preceded by the singles ‘God’s a Different Sword’, ‘The Actor’, and the just-released ‘Cathode Ray’.
A swooning folk pop creation named after the device that led to one of the most important discoveries in physics – the electron particle – ‘Cathode Ray’ is another belter of a tune from the trio of Gracie Sinclair, Jeanie Pilkington and Heide Peverelle.
Speaking on the track, Sinclair said, “It expresses a feeling of being trapped in myself, and wanting to break out of that so violently that I’m literally talking about opening up a body viscerally. It’s about frustration, and knowing there’s no cheap thrill that’s going to fix that.”
Folk Bitch Trio’s Australian tour takes in five cities, beginning at Kaurna Land/Adelaide’s Jive on Friday, September 5. The band then performs at Walyalup/Fremantle’s Mojos Bar on Saturday, September 6, Naarm/Melbourne’s Corner Hotel on Saturday, September 13, and Meanjin/Brisbane’s The Brightside on Friday, September 19, before bringing things to a close at The Landsdowne in Eora/Sydney on Saturday, September 20.
Tickets for all shows go on sale this Friday, May 16, at 9:30am via folkbitchtrio.com.
