Emerging Adelaide alt-folk rocker Ella Ion has announced her debut headline Australian tour.
The tour builds on what’s already been an incredible year for Ion, who recently returned from touring the UK and Europe and supported Suki Waterhouse at RISING Festival in Melbourne.
Ion is also celebrating the release of her double single ‘Mess In Your Eyes / Vultures’, out now via Our Golden Friend.
“These songs have been dear to my heart for some years - it feels lovely to get them out and share some more of the different sonic expressions inside me! I truly hope you connect to them,” Ion posted on social media.
The tour consists of headline shows and support slots, with Ion sharing the stage with Folk Bitch Trio in Adelaide and Fremantle.
Kicking things off with a hometown gig at the soon-to-be-opened Ed Castle on Wednesday 27 August, Ion then plays Sydney’s Low302 on Friday 29 August and Thirroul’s Frank’s Wild Years on Sunday 31 August.
A showcase performance at Brisbane’s BIGSOUND (Monday 2 - Thursday 4 September) is followed by two gigs supporting rising three-piece Folk Bitch Trio at Adelaide’s Jive on Friday 5 September and Fremantle’s Mojo’s on Saturday 6 September, with the tour wrapping up at Melbourne institute The Tote on Sunday 7 September.
Adelaide fans can also catch Ion performing at this year’s Space Jams Festival.
Tickets for all shows are on sale now via linktr.ee/ellaion.
Local lass Ella Ion is a name you want to remember. The emerging singer-songwriter has been steadily building a body of work that’s hard not to love.
Performing in bands since she was 15 after picking up classical guitar at the age of ten, Ion released her debut EP, Lukewarm, in 2018, wowing music lovers with her mesmerising folk inspired songs.
Several singles followed before Ion dropped her highly anticipated 2023 debut 2023, Waiting, which was well received by music critics.
Ion’s latest release, ‘Mess In Your Eyes / Vultures’, which was produced by Stefan Blair at Sydney Road Studios, is another heart-melting showcase of Ion’s incredible talents.
Catch Ella Ion at Ed Castle on Wednesday 27 August, Jive on Friday 5 September supporting Folk Bitch Trio and Space Jams Festival at Alma’s Hem Amphitheatre on Saturday 4 October to Sunday 5 October. Tickets on sale via linktr.ee/ellaion.
