James Marriott Shares New Single 'Burn Down The Disco' Ahead of Australian Tour

Just a month out from James Marriott's rescheduled Australian tour dates, the UK singer-songwriter has dropped new single, 'Burn Down The Disco'.

After taking Reading and Leeds Festival by storm over the weekend, 'Burn Down The Disco' is a disco-pop explosion made for the dancefloor, showcasing Marriott's shape-shifting sound.

"'Burn Down The Disco' is the unveiling of obsession within a relationship," James explains. "The deconstruction of the version of yourself you display to someone, to be replaced by unabashed, destructive yearning. I wanted to write a song which hit you hard and fast, whose lyrics matched the energy of feeling like you're losing your mind for someone. It felt like the right teaser of the energy the live shows will take on from now on. It was also the perfect excuse to be a (terrible) superhero in a music video, having never reached these levels of anti-pop before."

Speaking of the music video, it's directed by Herbie Elton and features Marriott getting bullied at a nightclub before he learns how to fight and returns for a showdown with the big bad.

Marriott’s first Australian tour since 2024 will see the acclaimed artist joined by his full band with support from Gold Coast indie rockers Eliza & The Delusionals.

The tour commences at the Astor Theatre in Perth on Monday 5 October before dropping in at Sydney's Enmore Theatre on Thursday 8 October. Marriott then hits Brisbane's Fortitude Music Hall on Saturday 10 October and Adelaide's Hindley Street Music Hall on Monday 12 October, with the final show at Melbourne's Forum on Wednesday 14 October.

Clearly established as one of the UK's most exciting stars, Marriott's sophomore album Don’t Tell The Dog reached #1 in the UK last summer and produced the hit singles 'I Don't Want to Live Like This', 'Toothache', 'It's Only Love' and 'Something's Wrong'.
