Bootleg Rascal have today shared the official music video for their track ‘Reasons’ along with announcing a national tour across January and February 2026.
Directed and shot by Hamish Stephen (Freddy Crabs, Danté Knows) at Good Loco in Eora/Marrickville, the music video for ‘Reasons’ is shot in black and white and illustrates a series of interactions reflecting the themes found across Bootleg Rascal’s self-titled fourth album.
“‘Reasons’ was a co-write we did with our mate Matt Collins from Wharves,” explains guitarist Jimmy Young. “He had a demo of the song and wasn't totally sure where to go with it. We saw something in it and decided to give it a crack. It also features the always exquisite production skills of our mate Caleb Tasker, and we're all pretty stoked with how it turned out in the end.”
Young adds, “On face value, ‘Reasons’ could easily be passed off as another break-up/heartbreak song. Those themes are in there for sure, but I think bubbling under the surface, the song also touches on broader elements of human connection. The commonality of emotions that we as people all share at some point in our lives, no matter our race, sex or background.”
Along with sharing the music video, Bootleg Rascal have dropped a run of tour dates, kicking things off at The Triffid in Meanjin/Brisbane on Saturday 10 January. Bootleg Rascal then plays Dharawal/Wollongong, Eora/Sydney, Yugambeh/Gold Coast, Boorloo/Perth, Wooditchup/Margaret River, Larrakia/Darwin, Tarndanya/Adelaide, Naarm/Melbourne, Lutruwita/Hobart and Kanamaluka/Launceston, before finishing up at Sol Bar on Kabi Kabi/Sunshine Coast on Saturday 21 February.
