Fresh from supporting King Stingray on their national tour, Queensland surf rockers Beddy Rays have announced their own Aussie jaunt. But this isn’t your usual tour, with the band performing acoustically in record stores across the country in support of their forthcoming album, Do What Ya Wanna, which arrives April 18 (pre-order here).
Not only are the lads performing in some of Australia’s best record stores, but they’re connecting with fans through in-store signings.
“We're doing a record store tour babyyyy! Our new album is out in 9 days and we wanted to give it a proper launch by hitting a few record stores and doing an acoustic set and signing! We're so excited to hang out and sink a couple tinnys with all of ya to celebrate this album,” Beddy Rays wrote on Instagram.
Beddy Rays get things underway at Community Hall in Redland Bay on Friday, April 18 and continue with two performances on Saturday, April 19, at Crowbar in Sydney and Music Farmers in Wollongong.
Next up, they travel to Rudderless Records in Newcastle on Sunday, April 20 and follow up with another two gigs on Monday, April 21, at Badlands on the Gold Coast and Howl and Moan in Byron Bay.
Beddy Rays then hit Adelaide’s Clarity Records on Tuesday, April 22 and Melbourne’s Oh Jean on Wednesday, April 23, before ending the tour with an appearance at Sonic Sherpa in Brisbane and a boat cruise (which has already sold out) along the Brisbane River on Thursday, April 24.
For all the details, head to Beddy Rays’ Instagram.
Beddy Ray’s sophomore album, Do What Ya Wanna, is 11 tracks of catchy riffs and humorous lyrics about life from the Redland Bay four-piece.
In a statement about the album, frontman Jacko said, “This album is us - our highs, our lows, and everything in between. Writing it was a way to make sense of all the craziness life throws at you, but it’s also about not taking yourself too seriously and enjoying the ride. That’s what Beddy Rays is all about.”
After their Australian shows, Beddy Rays hop on a plane and head overseas, with dates locked in across Europe and the UK.
